As human beings we are easily susceptible to a range of conditions that hinder our everyday functioning, which is why hypnotherapy is so important. It helps us to fight these conditions and reach our goals in an effective and easy way.
Hypnotherapy is a therapy that uses guided meditation, where your conscious mind becomes more narrowly focused, placing you in a hypnotic state. The hypnotic state is similar to our everyday daydreaming state. The brain waves cycle down from beta to alpha and/or theta waves when one is in a hypnotic state. This enables the therapist to talk to the subconscious mind rather than to the conscious mind, by anchoring suggestions into the subconscious.
Goals such as weight loss, stopping smoking, improving sleep and enhancing concentration, just to name a few, can be achieved more easily by suggestions that are anchored in the subconscious. As soon as those suggestions are anchored into the mind, the subconscious, the conscious accepts them more readily. Research shows that only 3 out of 20 advices from other people, in other words, suggestions from the outside, are followed. This makes hypnotherapy so powerful because the mind perceives that the suggestions come from inside and are thus followed more easily.
Firstly, goals are established with the client in order to make positive changes within themselves. Thereafter, the client can enjoy the therapy session while the therapist cycles the brain down using relaxation exercises to alter their state of consciousness. The hypnotic state is a natural state to be in and is very safe. You do not have to be asleep like you have seen people in stage hypnosis. When the brain waves are cycled down suggestions are given by the therapist for the client to reach their goals. They experience a sense of deep relaxation, narrowing down their attention in an enhanced state of awareness.
The client receives a CD to take home which helps reinforce the suggestions to achieve their goals more effectively. The client does not have to sleep and will often hear everything that the therapist says during the session. The client is always in control. Many clients even come in just for a relaxation session as hypnotherapy is great for de-stressing.

- anxiety/separation anxiety Read More
Hypnotherapy is a great therapy to help clients overcome their anxieties. Every person feels anxious at times. However, if the anxious feelings cannot be controlled and inhibit you from having a good social and school/work life, you need to seek help. The anxiety-provoking thoughts and feelings start in the mind. Hypnotherapy is a great technique to help you change those negative thoughts and overcome your anxiety more effectively. Often there are underlying reasons why we feel anxious and why we do not want to leave our loved ones alone at home. In our sessions we determine why the client feels anxious and eliminate those negative feelings with the help of conscious and subconscious work.
- depression Read More
Depression often makes us feel down, negative, angry, low in energy, stuck and helpless. 70% of change can be achieved by changing thought patterns and attitude in certain situations. Hypnotherapy is an easy and gentle technique to help you change, feel more upbeat, positive and stronger. Most of my clients do not only want to talk about their problems, they want solutions and to be helped to feel better. Hypnotherapy is a great choice for change as it is relaxing, allowing you to let go of the negatives with specific visualisation techniques. It works on the root of the problem, the subconscious mind (which is 90% of our mind’s capacity where all our thoughts, beliefs and everything we have experienced are stored). Working with your subconscious mind is a lot more powerful and helps you to change and feel in control quicker.
- nail biting Read More
Nail biting is related to anxiety. Often the person feels nervous and has learned the negative behaviour of nail biting to calm himself/herself down in a stressful situation. Generally, people bite their nails in other situations as well, such as in front of the TV, when feeling bored, feeling exited or feeling sad. This behavioural pattern has to be broken and hypnotherapy is an amazing tool to change those negative behaviours into positive, favourable behaviours. A lot of my clients feel very proud when they have nice-looking nails, fingers and hands again. This often increases their self-esteem and confidence levels as well.
- enhancing sport performance Read More
What can be accomplished through the powers of the mind? Perhaps the most important thing is the development of a positive attitude. Negative thought patterns pertaining to performance skills can be changed or eliminated. Performance of your chosen sport will be enhanced to a major degree as skills improve to the point where intermittent incidents of poor performance no longer arouse feelings of discouragement, irritation or other detrimental emotional reactions. Concentration, coordination and technique can improve as well as awareness of proper form and posture. Sports enthusiasts face some stumbling blocks in their quest for perfection such as fear, and fear comes in many forms. Fear of failure is always restrictive and is as common in sports as is its hidden partner, fear of success – an apprehension that success can create the expectation of further improvement. Fear of humiliation can also be very strong. Competition can produce sensations of intimidation resulting in deterioration of skills.
Hypnotherapy can work to reduce or eliminate the mental obstacles to peak performance in sports activities. This is an area where the truth of the phrase "What the mind can conceive, the body can achieve" becomes highly evident.

- stopping smoking Read More
As a smoking cessation aid, hypnosis has one very important benefit that other "quit smoking" tools aren’t able to offer. Because it uses the power of positive suggestion to help you stop smoking, it actually has the ability to help you develop and strengthen your will and determination to succeed.
Cigarettes might taste bitter or terrible suddenly, the urge to smoke becomes less and less until there is no craving for a cigarette any more. The habits of smoking will be broken and you can enjoy a healthy life without nicotine and that cigarette smell. Cigarettes are becoming more and more expensive and it is not socially acceptable any more to smoke.
Hypnotherapy can help you to become a none-smoker easily and effectively!
You are only 2-6 sessions away from being a non-smoker!
Hypnotherapy has a success rate between 60-80%, which is significantly higher than many other therapies or supplements on the market.
- phobias Read More
Phobias are based on fears that are often irrational, but provoke a strong feeling of anxiety of a certain object or situation. Hypnotherapy can help you to visualise how you overcome those phobias with help of gradual desensitisation in a safe environment. I help my clients to overcome their negative thoughts and behaviours and teach them to replace those negative thoughts and behaviours with positive and constructive ones. I have had great success with this and have helped many people lead a normal life, feeling in control and happy again.
- skin disorders Read More
Skin disorders are closely related to subconsciously underlying psychological problems. The skin is a mirror of the inner self, and we frequently use phrases that reflect this: 'getting under your skin', 'thin skinned', 'thick skinned', 'itching to do something' for example. It is only when the skin begins to malfunction that these expressions really start to have a meaning. The epidermis, our outer layer of skin and nervous system originate from the ectoderm (the outer layer of the early embryo), and as such, when the embryo fully develops a strong series of connections exist between the two. Therefore, an imbalance within the nervous system may frequently be reflected in the epidermis itself. It can be a signal of an implicit vulnerability to a situation, or a response to that initiating trigger itself. Treating the symptom alone for psychogenic disorders (physical disorders resulting from mental or emotional discord) is not as effective as treating the trigger as well. Stress increases the vulnerability of the autonomic nervous system and this has a direct effect on the epidermis. It increases the dermatological symptoms and sets the client into an anxiety loop.
Scratching or itching, which gave temporary relief to the patient from the condition, itself becomes a habit. Even when the trigger has been removed and a new dermatological response is generated, the reaction still remains in place and must also be reconditioned. The scratching or itching can be dealt with by hypno-desensitization. Confidence increases and you will shift into a positive mindset about yourself and the future.
Hypnotherapy, when administered by a trained professional, is a safe process and the client is always in control which stands in contrast to the shows seen on stage. During hypnotherapy the client is helped to enhance his/her life-style by reaching goals set by themselves.
